How to prepare for Official College Visits,

Official visits are a big deal and an athlete can make or break a college coaches decision during that visit.  First and foremost, be prepared.  If an athlete is attending an official visit then he or she needs to research the coach and or coaches they are meeting with, research the athletic program, have a list of questions available, and be prepared to answer any and all questions that the coaching staff has.

Dress the part!  An official visit needs to be treated like a job interview.  A coach does not want to meet w/ an athlete who dresses as if they just rolled out of bed.  A suit and tie is not necessary however, sweats and a hoodie is probably not the best option either.  Be confident but not arrogant.  You should walk into any official visit w/ confidence, have good body language, speak fluently, treat it as if you are interviewing them just as they are interviewing you.  Remember, you want this to be a good fit for you too!

Follow up and follow through.  As the visit is ending, make it a point to thank each coach that you met with.  Provide each of them w/ your contact information and tell them to feel free to reach out to you w/ any additional questions.  And finally, follow through.  After the visit is over, give it about 24-48 hours and then email every coach that you met with and thank them again as well as reiterating that you are interested in the program and you are happy to answer any additional questions that they may have in the future.

In conclusion, be prepared, be presentable, be confident, speak fluently, and follow up/follow through.
