GREAT COACHES DO MORE...
Most ppl go into Coaching or Training bc they enjoy it, not to get rich. I am all for making a living doing what you love, I can honestly say that I love my job and very few ppl can say that in this world but; so often a Trainer or Coach goes in, coaches/trains his or her client or team and then goes home and doesn't think about it until the next practice or session. If this is your approach to Coaching/Training, then you should probably look into another career.
At 123 Total Fitness, we specialize in 1 on 1 Sports Performance and Personal Training. Over 70% of our clientele is high school athletes looking to get a scholarship to play his or her given sport in college. If you work with athletes at any level, especially teen's, then you probably know that this is a crucial time in that athletes life. That being said; Are you investing your time and energy in these young athletes or are you showing up, training, and going home? If you answered; "showing up, training, and going home" then PLEASE do us all a favor and find another career!!!
Athletes at any age but especially teens, face a lot of challenges in his or her day to day life. That athletes 1 hr practice or training session may be the highlight of his or her week. Sure, a lot of coaches and trainers can give a great practice or training session but that's simply not enough. There are 168 hours in a week, if they are with you less than 6 hours per week, that is 162 hours that you are not impacting that athletes life.
Do your athletes/clients have your personal cell #? Do they feel comfortable calling or txting you at anytime day or night? Do you know whats going on w/ your athletes in school? Do you know whats going on w/ your athletes at home? What personal challenges are your clients facing? Do they trust you enough to reach out in a time of need? Are you holding your clients accountable in a positive way? HOW MUCH ARE YOU DOING OUTSIDE OF YOUR PRACTICE OR TRAINING SESSION???
Being Great in ANYTHING requires more then the norm. If you want to be great at anything in life, be prepared to do more!
